My SN Decor lady had a really cool loft but I really wanted to play with her mirors too. All of the pictures on her walls are from study abroad and backpacking in Europe. I really like this.

Ohio State

The Ohio State Buckeye fans cheer as the team looks to the scoreboard to see the replay of the fumble by MSU's Blair White which led to an OSU touchdown in the last 15 seconds of Saturady's game. You can kinda see the team reacting but I wish it had more depth of field...and maybe if I was a little higher up in the stands I could've gotten some more separation and seen the actual touchdown...maybe I'll try it again sometime...

May or may not have exposed the Ohio State Mascot...OOPS!

Ohio State fan, Anita Donadio, hugs her son, the Buckeye mascot after Ohio State's 45-7 victory over MSU.

Yay for Man Love!

MSU senior running back, Javon Ringer, receives a hug from Ohio State junior defensive back, Kurt Coleman, after the Buckeyes defeated the Spartans 45-7 at Spartan Stadium.

Bharatiya Temple

"Religion, after all, is a human expression, and religions are as different as our cultures...To think you can own the Almighty cannot but be counterfeit. No real experience of the infinite presence of God can leave you condemning your neighbor." ~Swami Vivekananda

"...truth is a pathless land, and you cannot approach it by any path whatsoever, by any religion, by any sect." ~J. Krishnamurti

One of the common misconceptions od the Hindu tradition is that they worship many gods. In reality, it is a henotheistic religion meaning one God with many facets. the deities represent various powers of the supreme God. They believe that there is no one way to God, just many paths to salvation. the way that is right for one person may not be right for another. The only correct way is the one that leads the individual to ultimate reality, or Brahman.

Rameswari Devi

The Bharatiya Temple priest splashes holy water on the deity, Lord Venkateshwara, the form of the Hindu god who destroys the sins of the people.

Parameswaran Iyer performs a prayer befor the Navagraha Devatas, the nine planetary deities, after walking circles around the platform.

Lucky Firsts...

I love it when this happens. This is the best shot from my living city by far. I was wondering around the pavilion, rounded a corner, saw this boy, lifted the camera and snapped...they saw me by the second frame and started waving...funny how the very first shot, however spontaneous, can end up being the all around best.

Parents, Joe and Stephanie Gill, lead their sons- Shaw, 6, and Tate, 4(not pictured)-back from their Lead Line performance at the Michigan Quarter Horse Association's Breeders' Futurity horse shows at the Pavilion. The Gill family has been doing horse shows together going back three generations when Jill Bain first began. Since then, her daughter, Stephanie Gill, and her Husband, Joe Gill, who met showing horses, have continued to show with their two sons. Most weekends, Jill Bain’s father shows as well, bringing four generations out to the event for a family affair.

Grrrrr...missed him!

Secret game watching spot for one of the construction workers completing the Indiana stadium

Playboy morning show hosts for Sirius and XM radio, Kevin Klein and Andrea Lowell, play a radio game with MSU senior hospitality business Playboy model, Lynn Wisper, in which the hosts attempt to discover the player's secret. Lowell and Wisper crack up after Lowell incorrectly attempts to guess Wisper's secret.

The secret was that she really likes going to sex shops
the guess is too inappropriate for this blog...

Stanley Cup Stuff

I really liked this framing and moment...

Oakland University juniors, Megan Hryckowian, and Naida Efendiyeva, are shocked when they realize that it is Mike Bolt, the keeper of the Stanley Cup, who is being filmed in front of them...okay so they freaked out a little...

so this is the dog of the girlfriend of Alex Beaudin, one of the guys we interviewed...

Nursing junior, Melissa Heacock, lets C.J. ,2, and Caroline, 5, play ith her dog, Ipswitch, while she makes a donation which will go toward children's cancer research, to have her picture taken with the Stanley Cup.

So today I had an assignment to shoot new technology at the planetarium. Who would've guessed it would be the best thing ever!

So my contact turned out to be a collector of wetnaps. He calls it his "moist towelette museum". There are wetnaps from all over the world in many languages including Chinese, Thai, Turkish, and Dutch. Why towelettes? "Because they're Lemony fresh!"

He also wants to start a celebrity section. It is a collection of 1: Tom and Ray of Car Talk on NPR.

The man who shares the office with him has a collection of pez dispensers including but not lim ited to The Flintstones, all the Garfield characters, The Simpsons, Sesame St., Peanuts, Pooh and friends, Looney Tunes, the Disney Princesses, Mickey and friends, the Ducktales family, the Smurfs, the Jungle Book characters, Star Wars, Spongebob, etc...

...yes...many pez dispensers...

Ok, this is really cool because it is a lens donated from a star projector from a planetarium in Battle Creek. One of this guys buddies is going to turn it into a meg camera and take pictures of the night sky. The observatory is open this weekend and he will be there. Needless to say, I'm going to find him and try to get in on this.

This is like the size of my head...

Last but not least...I just can't resist. I was checking my white balance and caught Jeff. I like it.

Fuck my life...

Okay so by the time I was ready to leave for Boston, I was most excited about this super sweet project I was gonna do. It was the whole reason I wasted my life away for 2 days straight on a train.

The project was that every person I met on my trip, I would ask to describe their personality in a word or a phrase. Then I would have them show me this and take their picture. I planned only to use the old canon A-1 for this.

Unfortunately,I am left with only one photo. The one I took with my digital camera because I couldn't find my flash at the time. Something went wrong, and the role seemed to never was blank when it was developed...not gonna lie...i cried...

*Note* if you don't feel like reading this whole post, that is fine. Just be sure to read the very last part about Lorenz.

My only photo.

Sarah Cohen-Bacry. "Dreamer"
Sarah was on her way to Holland to visit family at their lake house. She was born and raised in France and came to the US to attend Arizona State University, where she is a junior in film studies (She just finished an internship in CA). Sarah kept going on about how she loves Michigan so much because the people are so much more friendly and smile much more than the people in AZ.

Wade. "Sports Fan"
He was taking the train from Fremont to Wisconsin to begin his 9 day trip which included 6 MLB games. He was most ecxited to see the Yankee stadium before it is torn down. When we reached Union Station, I took his picture and he asked to do the same for me, except he chose my word to be "Focused" as a pun for my personality and being a photographer.

In Chicago I met up with living city Piotr, who was randomly visiting a friend.

Scott. "Mysterious" (a word chosen by his friend Ashley)
Scott is a firefighter who applied to work for the secret service and is still waiting on a reply. He spent his Jr year of high school playing pro soccer in Mexico! Needless to say, we hit it off right away, and the 1 hr ride to go get Piotr from his station wasn't the least bit awkward.

Ashley. "Fantabulous" ... also "Indecisive" fantabulous was about the eight word...
but it is suiting for her bubbly personality.

~What I realized while these two were trying to come up with their words is that the better you get to know someone, the harder it is to find one word to describe them~

Kourtney. "Weird"
This was her first time traveling alone. She was returning to Massachussetts from Louissiana where she had been visiting her mother for the past month. Kourtney is 18 and just out of high school. She is big on animae, and is really talented in drawing these characters:

Jason, you will be happy to know that she has big time "Yellow Fever". She has a huge crush on an asian guy she met on myspace...basically this is all she talked about on the trip that was supposed to be 16 hrs...but somehow turned into 20 hrs. She acted a lot younger than she was which made me think that she had some struggles in her life, which I later found was true.

Richard W. Crocket. "Tolkein Hobbit"
Hannah might have called him a creature...
Retired polysci prof, and writer for a weekly in Illinois, he was on his way to visit his son in Utica, NY. He kept going on about how humans are basically the root of all problems but especially global warming.

Kevin "Rob" Studer. "Interesting" & Bobby. "intellectual"
Rob was a youth mission leader from Ohio on his way to Albany with a group of kids, including Bobby, to help inner-city kids. I bumped into Bobby again on my way home which was kinda funny.

The last guy I am going to tell you about is the sole reason that the absence of photos has made me so upset...

Lorenz. "Me"
Lorenz is a drifter. He is on his way back to Boston, which he left 14 months ago, to travel all over the country...and the world. He keeps a minimum ammount of money on him and once his funds fall to this level he will stop and pick up some odd jobs to build them back up.His favorite animal is a cat because they resemble his attitude. If they want to be around you they will come to you, otherwise they want to be left alone. His mottos: enjoy life & what is meant to happen will happen (you would've loved him Sam). Georgia, you might find this intersting...this is the only black man I have ever met who is a vegetarian.

Now, the reason this project was going to be super cool was because this was the only person who was not going to have a photo. He was the only person who wouldn't let me take his picture and here is the profound reason why:
( Nick, keep this in mind. I'm hoping you can laugh this off by now...)
Lorenz said the best thing that ever happened to him was that he lost his camera. My immediate reaction: *gasp* "that's a crime!"
Lorenz continued by telling me that once he wasn't so worried about capturing the moments through his camera, he began to discover the moments he was missing in life.

Although I would never give up the task of trying to capture the moments with my camera, I really respected the fact that he didn't want his picture taken because he had such a cool reason.

Birthday Mayhem

This weekend was my sister's birthday party. It was a funfilled day of screaming six year olds. yay...
Her party was princess themed. My mom made up a story about princess Bri Bri and the evil dragon who only wanted to play with the princess and not all the other children. The kids all got to take water balloons to defeat the dragon with...aka my bro in green make-up and a Babybop costume...

...unfortunately nothing really turned out from the fight, but you can see his tail in the pool here... Melvin and my bro got bored and decided to throw water ballons at the kiddies from the roof...this involved Melvin filling them up and throwing them up to my bro...and my mom tying the ballons because Melvin was having issues...

throwing the balloons at kiddies...

...blowing ou the candles...

This kid had too much cake...he spent a good hour terrorizing the girls with the hose...then he took a squirt gun, came up behind me, held it to my leg, and fired...and I did not have a change of clothes...
